Designing Patterns Workshop Sunday Nov. 22 11:00-4:00 $59 We are delighted to welcome back Chantal Paré. Chantal has published stained glass pattern books (Orchids in Stained Glass) and is a well know designer of stained glass patterns available through several web sites on-line. So who better than Chantal to give a workshop on designing your own original patterns. Chantal will communicate first with students by e-mail and then participants send photos, designs, portraits which then can be translated into stained glass. Benefit from years of design experience. A fascinating workshop not to be missed!
The panel was made with the assistance of several volunteers from Beaconsfield as part of the "Journées de la Culture." The panel was not quite finished at the end of the "marathon" event. Michelle Janis from the cultural services drew the winning ballot, the Fillo family being the lucky winners.
I teach a stained glass design class, and the students seem to enjoy enjoy working with the templates I provide them with. On account of the enthusiasm, I am making my templates available to the public:
These templates will allow you to frame your subjects attractively with shapes that are even, geometric, and symmetrical without you having to worry about all the rotation and calculations required to achieve those results.
How to Cut Difficult Glass Saturday 17th October 13:00 – 14:30 Free! Everyone can benefit from this seminar! Chantal, (of Orchids in Stained Glass fame) will be hosting this new seminar. Certain of the more exotic glass, such as Uroborus or Bullseye or Youghigheny can make all the difference in a project. Instead of feeling fearful, or running out to buy a glass saw, learn how to conquer the most difficult of glass. Chantal will teach you tricks to cut every type of glass with nothing but your glass cutter, giving you the confidence to include some beautiful art glass without being worried of wasting expensive and beautiful glass.
If you encounter a hex color code while altering someone else's html, CSS or other source, plug it in the table and immediately view the color in question. This tool is invaluable when skinning forums, for instance.

At last, Red Deer College's course list for Serie 2009 is out. The College, located North of Calgary, offers a summer session covering nearly all of the glass arts. It is inexpensive for Canadians compared to other schools priced in US dollars, and competitive for Americans on account of a favorable exchange rate.

I had some scraps of waterglass that I never used, as well as a piece of practice glass painting from the 'Trace and Texture' class I took with the amazing Deborah Coombs in 2008. I quickly assembled the very simple project below. All the stars lined up for me to prepare the zinc framing tutorial!
Below is Olive, my second and newest niece. She's still a kitten, but she fetches with astounding reliability! She belongs to my lucky sister-in-law, hello Suzie!!!
